With the timeless silhouette of Sri Lanka’s stilt fishermen rising from
the coastline, ECOSOC’s mandate unfolds in full — livelihoods, economic
resilience, social justice, and sustainable development. Since 1945, the
Economic and Social Council has coordinated global efforts to advance
people's well-being, reduce inequality, and foster collaborative
progress.
ECOSOC was selected for SDIMUN because its mandate
echoes the principles that guide our conference: equity, opportunity,
and community-driven growth. Just as stilt fishing reflects the balance
between tradition, economy, and environment, so too must international
development work remain rooted in real people’s lives.
Delegates
are expected to be pragmatic, innovative, and impact-oriented. Your task
is to design solutions that don’t just read well — they work well.
